One of the most critical steps of the customer onboarding through guest WiFi is to collect their consent for using their data. The solution offers extreme flexibility to configure the consent collection in line with your company goals and policy and to ensure compliance with the privacy regulations (such as GDPR and LGPD).
Collect consent to Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
The Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy are usually mandatory and accepted with one single checkbox. The solution offers you the possibility to split them into two different sentences.
Moreover, you can decide to collect the consent explicitly (as required by GDPR), so the customer has to tick the box explicitly. The solution also allows you to pre-check the box.
or you can opt for the "implicit" mode, where you only inform the customer that by proceeding he implicitly accepts those terms.
The solution allows you to customize the text of the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use with your text and you can configure it with a specific version for each enabled language.
You need to configure your Privacy Policy to make sure you comply with privacy regulations. For more details, check this article.
Collect consent for Promotional Communications
To send marketing messages to a customer, you need to collect his consent to the Promotional Communication Policy. Only customers who accept this policy can be reached with marketing communications using Triggered Campaigns tool.
Collecting this consent is optional. You can decide to collect the consent asking the customer to opt-in (as required by GDPR), or you can use the "opt-out" mode, where you assume that the user accepts it unless they explicitly opt-out (note that this option does not comply with standard privacy regulations).
The solution allows you to customize the text of the Promotional Communication Policy with your text and you can configure it with a specific version for each enabled language.
Collect consent with Custom Opt-ins
You can create additional custom opt-ins to be collected during the onboarding.
For each custom opt-in, you can specify:
- Terms Name: this is a friendly name that is used to refer to this consent in the customer profile and profile data export
- Version: this is the version of the current policy
- Text for the sentence in multiple languages.
Minimum age verification
To comply with Privacy regulations or with your internal policies, you may want to limit the collection of customer data to only those customer older than a certain age.
The easiest and legal method to do so is to collect from the customer an explicit statement where he confirms his/her minimum age.
Versioning and consent collection update
Your policies may change over time, for example, because you change your data strategy or internal policies, or you add additional processing purposes.
The solution allows you to assign a new version to a policy every time you change them and to keep track of what version of your policies each customer accepted.
When you configure a policy with a specific statement or text, we suggest you archive the text with its version so you have it as a reference for future use. In the user profile, you can see what version of each policy the user accepted.
If you make a significant change to your policies and you want to resubmit the acceptance to the returning customers, you can select the option "Collect again the consent form existing users". The next time a customer comes back in the store, the Splash Page will ask the acceptance of the new terms.
