Enabling location services
The first step to getting your network feeding data to Cloud4Wi services is to enable the location services on the HiveMangaer. With this step, your network will start sending presence and location data to our system, and the Overview, Trends, Peak and Virtual Zone dashboard will start working automatically.
On the second step, you'll learn how to get to work also the Heatmap dashboard and enable the Polygon zones.
1. Contact Cloud4Wi Support Team
As a first step, You need to open a ticket in our Support Center, informing us that you are going to enable Presence Analytics with Extreme Networks (formerly Aerohive Networks) devices.
The Cloud4Wi Support Team will provide you with the following information:
- the endpoint URL
- the customer token (unique for each organization instance)
2. Enable Presence Analytics on your Radio Profile
Log in to the HiveManager NG at https://extremecloudiq.com/login, go to Configure → Common Objects, select Policy → Radio Profiles on the left-side toolbar, click on your Radio Profile.
Then scroll down and find the Presence Server Settings fieldset, and set Presence Analytics to "ON".
3. Assign your Radio Profile to your device
On the HiveManager NG, go to Monitor → Devices, and find and click on your device. Then select Configuration → Interface Settings on the left-side toolbar, and assign the configured Radio Profile to the desired interface.
4. Enable the webhooks
On the HiveManager NG, open the Global Settings, then go to API → API Token Management, and create a new API access token by clicking the (+) button.
Then enter the following values:
Post URL: (the value provided by Cloud4Wi Support Team)
Access Token: (the value provided by Cloud4Wi Support Team)
Message Type: Client Centric
Enable: Yes
That's all! If you need further assistance with this process, please do not hesitate to open a ticket by using our Support Center.
Enabling Heatmap and Polygon Zones
To get your Heatmap dashboard working and to start using the Polygon Zones, you need to take a further step. In order for these features to work, you need to sync the floor plans you have configured in your Extreme Networks dashboard with the floor plans in your Cloud4Wi account.
1. Configure your floor in the HiveManager
Go to Maps and Click configure your floor. For questions related to this configuration, please contact Extreme Networks Support or Community.
2. Configure your floor in the Cloud4Wi Dashboard
Please follow the instructions in this article on how to add and manage maps on Cloud4Wi: Adding and managing floors.
- The image that you upload here must be the same uploaded to the HiveManager
- To get the correct value for the Floor hardware manufacturer ID you must do the steps:
- Go to Maps and click on the corresponding floor map.
- Look at the URL on your browser, that will be something like https://va.extremecloudiq.com/#/plan/12345678901234/overview.
Please copy the numeric value in cyan to the Floor hardware manufacturer ID input field (check that there is no white-space before or after the numerical).
That's all! Once the configuration has been completed, the access point will be able to capture location data and feed it to the Cloud4Wi service. At this point, your Heatmap dashboard will start showing the data (it may take a few hours before you see data showing on the map).
You can also start using the Polygon Zones by drawing polygons on the floor plans and analyzing the zone traffic on the related Zone Traffic dashboard.
