PurposeThis guide shows the configuration of a "zone" for a Power Cloud Systems router, in order to use the device as a HotSpot.
Please note that the images contained in this article may contain outdated configuration data. Therefore, please check the data contained in the article "Parameters for the Solution" at the bottom of the page, as they are certainly up to date.
This guide applies to the Solution for the version 9.4 or later.
The following device models are supported:
In order to use a Power Cloud Systems device as a HotSpot, you must connect the router to the Internet.
Upgrading the firmware
The Upgrade Firmware action will take about 5 minutes to end. During the firmware updating process, the device must be connected to the Internet and it cannot be used until the update is completed.
Enabling a zoneTo activate a disabled zone, you must click on the image corresponding to the selected zone. If the zone is already enabled, simply change the existing settings. In this guide a non-configured zone will be activated from scratch.
Configuring a zone to run as a HotSpot
The following is the complete configuration of a zone, section by section through the web interface. By applying this configuration, you can use the zone as a HotSpot.
The Mode Settings section must be configured as follows.
For the Connection Settings section it is necessary to enable the Wi-Fi Service and assign a name to the SSID. No encryption must be set, since the end-user will be authenticated through a RADIUS request.
For the UAM Network section you must specify the network for the HotSpot interface. The following values are illustrative, but it is recommended to use the Primary and Secondary DNSs indicated (188.8.131.52 and 184.108.40.206). The Domain field is not significant, any string having a domain format can be used (for example: mydomain.it).
In the DHCP Server section it is recommended to leave the default values as suggested.
In the UAM Server section it is necessary to set the Captive Portal URL. The other parameters must be configured as follows:
In order to configure the Walled Garden, please check the following articles:
- Walled Garden for the Social Login (web sites/domains to open)
- Walled Garden for PayPal feature (web sites/domains to open)
After that, the configuration of a zone is complete. To save settings, you must click the Save button in the top part of the zone settings.
Allowing free access to the CDN
Explained in the article Improving the performance of Control Panel and Splash Portal by enabling the CDN, you must add some IP addresses to the Walled Garden in order to support the access to the CDN.
The domains to add for this purpose are:
Retrieving the identifier for the Control Panel
To integrate the Access Point with the Solution, you must enter its details into the Control Panel.
For further information on how to do that, please see How to add a HotSpot. Secondly, in the Control Panel, a field called Identifier will be required by the web interface.
For Power Cloud Systems products, the value to enter must have the same name chosen as NAS-Identifier in the Radius Server section. It must be unique for all the devices connected to the platform, otherwise the HotSpot will be not correctly integrated with the Solution.
Parameters for the SolutionThe parameters indicated above for the Mode Settings section are mandatory for the proper functioning. The parameters to use to integrate the device with the Solution are the following:
Primary Server IP: 220.127.116.11
Secondary Server IP: 18.104.22.168
Shared Secret: (it will be communicated by Cloud4Wi)
Captive Portal URL: https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com/
Please note that it is necessary to enter the Splash Portal URL exactly as it is written above.
If you enter the Splash Portal URL in different formats (e.g. https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com/c4wportal/mysplashportal), then the redirection to the Splash Portal will fail and the end-user will not be able to see the Splash Portal.
If these parameters change in the future, we will promptly inform you about new values.
