Splash Pages - Cookies Policy

When you access the service through a Hotspot, one or more cookies (as defined below) may be sent to your computer or mobile device from the Splash Portal, in order to enhance your user experience.

What are cookies?

A cookie is small data file that your computer or mobile phone automatically downloads from a website.
It typically contains the name of the domain where the cookie comes from, its "lifetime", and a value, that is usually a randomly generated unique number. Most major websites use cookies. Cookies cannot be used by themselves to identify you.
Two types of cookies may be used:

(1) Session cookies are stored in computer memory during the browsing session of a user and they are automatically deleted from the memory when the browser is closed or the session ends. These cookies usually contain a session ID from which you can not uniquely identify a user and they allow to navigate from one page to another in the same portal without having to login repeatedly.
They are used, for example, to determine in which language the Splash Portal should be displayed.

(2) Persistent cookies are stored computer memory during the browsing session and they are not automatically deleted unless the user manually performs this action. These cookies can be used to store user preferences for a particular website, in order to apply them for future browsing sessions.
Usually persistent cookies contain a unique ID assigned, which is used to identify a user for a long period of time, from days to months or even years. They are used, for example, when you click the "Remember me" checkbox in the login form.

What types of cookies do we use?
Generally, our cookies are used to perform up to four different functions:

  1. Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential to ensure proper operation of the Splash Portal, allowing the end-user to move around the portal and take advantage of its functions. For example, they may include actions previously performed (for example, the text entered) by end-users in the same session.
  2. Performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our Solution by providing information about the Venues visited, the time spent using the service and any issues encountered, such as error messages. This may help us to improve the performance of the Solution.
  3. Functionality cookies
These cookies are used to remember your choices (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) in order to provide you a more targeted online experience. The information that these cookies collect is anonymous (i.e. it does not contain your name, address, account details, etc.) and browsing activities across other websites are never tracked.
  4. Targeting cookies
Targeting cookies are linked to services provided by third parties, such as 'Like' button and 'Share' button. Third parties provide these services after having detected through the cookie, that you have used our service.

How to control and delete cookies
The Company will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you. However, if you wish to restrict or block the cookies, you can do this through your browser settings. The Help function within your browser should tell you how.
Alternatively, you may wish to visit the About cookies website, which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer as well as more general information about cookies. For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile phone you will need to refer to your handset manual.
Please be aware that restricting cookies may impact your experience while on the Service.
