The service PIN allows end-users to access the Internet if they are using a service with restricted access.
The need for a service PIN depends on the fact that the active Service Profile assigned to the end-user, has the Restricted access value set to Yes. This is the reason why the service PIN is required.
The end-user can gain access to the Internet by entering the service PIN into the appropriate field on the Splash Portal.
Alternatively, the Tenant and the Venue Manager are able to avoid this step for the end-user, by accessing the Users section from the quick access toolbar, searching and selecting the end-user, and finally clicking Confirm for the Unlock access with PIN option, if available. In this case, the end-user is able to use the Service Profile assigned without entering a service PIN.
The identification PIN is an activation code whose purpose is to identify a foreign end-user.
The need to enter an identification PIN depends on the mobile phone number provided by the end-user.
In this case, the PIN for Foreign Users option in the Sign-Up Options section is set to Yes and if the phone number provided by the end-user does not contain the country code specified in the Default international call prefix option for the Sign-Up Options section. The end-user will be required to enter an identification PIN into the appropriate field on the Splash Portal, in order to gain the access to the Internet.
Alternatively, the Tenant and the Venue Manager are able to manually avoid this step for the end-user, by accessing the Users section from the quick access toolbar, searching and selecting the end-user, and finally clicking Confirm for the Unlock access with PIN option, if available. By selecting this option, no identification PIN will be required in the future for the selected end-user.
