Creating a new end-user from the Control Panel

[Please note that this article refers to an older version of the product and may be outdated. You can find the most recent guide here]
The registration process for an end-user can be performed by the Tenant or the Venue Manager (assisted registration). It can also be performed directly by the end-user (autonomous registration) accessing the Splash Portal, when Sign-Up Options are configured in the appropriate way (learn more about Access Templates and Sign-Up Options).

The Tenant and Venue Manager are able to create a new end-user by performing the assisted registration. To do this it is necessary to click the Users button in the quick access toolbar and then click the Create new button in the command toolbar. Data to enter are as follows and can be changed later (see next paragraph):
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Gender
  • Birthplace
  • Birthday
  • Address
  • City
  • Country
  • Email: the end-user's email address
  • Document: the type of document shown by the end user.
  • Document number
  • Personal ID
  • Passport number
  • Mobile phone: the end-user's mobile phone.
  • Send password through: indicates how the password will be sent to the end-user. Can be:
    • Email: if the email address has been specified)
    • SMS: if the mobile number has been specified)
    • Screen: if you are going to print and manually deliver the credentials to the end-user.
These options are not mutually exclusive and so they can be selected simultaneously.
The data will also be requested from end-users during their autonomous registration.

If the registration is made by the Tenant, the following data is required:
  • Venue: the Venue to which the end-user belongs.
  • Service profile: a Service Profile to assign to the end-user in Auto-provisioning mode. It can also be empty.
  • Type: it indicates the type of end-user. The following types may be available, depending on the license activated by the Tenant and on the type of Venue:
    • Guest: the user authenticates to the service through the Splash Portal. This option is not enabled when the type of the Venue is Enterprise.
    • Enterprise: in this case the user authenticates to the service through the 802.1x protocol.
The Venue Manager is also able to create new identification PINs, by clicking the Users button in the quick access toolbar and then click the identification PINs button in the page command toolbar. This action can also be performed by the Tenant for service and support purposes, by descending to the Venue level, from the Venue section.
