The Click-Through authentication mode is an alternative sign-in method that does not require the end-user to create an account in order to access the service. The end-user just clicks a button and then is able to go online, accordingly with his Service Profile.

It is possible, optionally, to require the end-user to enter some personal data, as mentioned below in the paragraph Additional options.

The Service Profile, assigned to the end-user connected in Click-Through mode, is the Default Profile assigned to the Venue. It is possible to check the Default Profile set in the Venue section.

To enable the Click-Through option, set Sign-Up Option to Click-Through in the Access templates section, as described in Access Templates and Sign-Up Options.
Please note that if this option is enabled, all the features related to the user account, such as the password recovery and the self care portal, are disabled.

Additional options

When Click-Through mode is selected in the access template, there are the following options to configure:

  • Explicit acceptance of statements:
If this option is set to Yes, then the end-user is required to click the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy checkbox before going online.
Otherwise, these statements are displayed but the checkbox is not visible. The end-user implicitly agrees the clauses by clicking the Go online button.

  • Additional fields:
It is possible to require the end-user to enter some personal data, such:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Gender
    • Mobile phone
    • Email address
If no fiields are specified, then the end-user is able to authenticate without providing any detail.
It is necessary to enter this data only at the first access. For subsequent accesses, the Splash Portal will recognize the end-user based on the MAC address of its device.
Please note that each time the end-user has to enter a new information (because a new field is set through the Control Panel), he will be asked to accept the Marketing clause (that is optional for the end-user, in any case). In this case Cloud4Wi ever considers the last end-user choice.

See the following article for details on this: Access Templates and Sign-Up Options.

Click-Through and Social Log in

When enabling the Click-Through mode, it is still possible to use the Social Log in as an alternative way for an end-user to log-in. This is also a very fast way to log in, allowing more data and statistics about end-users to be collected.

Click-Through and Splash Portal templates

Please note that if you are using a Splash Portal template and you want to speed up the connection process of the user, you can publish the Log in box on the home page of the Splash Portal. In order to do that, you have to create the Log in content type and then publish it into the desired block within the Splash Portal.
