Many access points support DD-WRT firmware and this allows you to use Cloud4Wi even if the original firmware of your product doesn’t directly support Cloud4Wi.
It is mandatory that your device supports any stable version of DD-WRT including Chillispot. For any information about the version supported, please enter the DD-WRT table of compatibility page and type your router model.
Please note that the following versions are today supported: mini_hotspot (for "broadcom_K26", "non-nv60k" and "non-nv64k" builds), nokaid, standard, big, mega. These versions require usually at least 4 MB RAM, but in some cases 8 MB RAM might be required, so please check your device requirements.
Since documentation is not so exhaustive and DD-WRT table of compatibility is not constantly mantained, we recommend to refer to the DD-WRT Community and to DD-WRT Forum to make sure that a stable firmware version containing Chillispot is available for your device. You can submit questions to the Forum. Probably someone else had your problem and you can find the solution in the Community.
Recent development versions supporting CoovaChilli
Please note that DD-WRT, for some devices, provides also some recent development versions (non-stable) of the firmware supporting CoovaChilli (from version 22118).
These versions are not available in the classic DD-WRT table of compatibility (which provides only stable versions) and can be found on the DD-WRT FTP web site at
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/ or at http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads and then clicking others > eko > Brainslayer-V24-preSP2. Older versions than 22118 do not support CoovaChilli.
Since CoovaChilli is supported by Cloud4Wi, this firmware works with our solution. Anyway, since they are not stable versions, you install them at your own risk.
To get further information about each development version, please find users feedbacks on DD-WRT Forum. This documentation refers only to stable versions.
To find out if a specific outer is supported and which file you need to download to install DD-WRT on it, please check here on DD-WRT website:
