Smart Authentication

Smart Authentication is a type of MAC authentication that ties a user device to user account and pre-authenticates a user when opening the Splash Portal.

First Access

When Smart Authentication is enabled and the end-user opens the Splash Portal for the first time with his device, he has to follow the normal authentication method, according to the Sign-up Method selected in the Control Panel.
After the access has been successful, Cloud4Wi internally stores the MAC address of the end-user.

Second Access

After the first access, Cloud4Wi is able to recognize the end-users MAC address.
The next time the end-user opens the Splash Portal with Smart Authentication enabled, it doesn't have to manually authenticate: in fact the Splash Portal recognizes the MAC address of the end-user and automatically sends an access request to the RADIUS server.
So, if the request is successful, then the end-user finds his Splash Portal already logged in.

Note: Logout Button

Please note that when Smart Authentication is enabled, the Logout button will not be available in the Splash Portal.

This is a MAC-based authentication, so this feature is supported when the access device used is able to send the user's MAC address to the Splash Portal.
