"RSS" content blocks allow messages to be published within a Welcome Portal block. These messages flow from an external RSS source. See article Define content blocks for your Welcome Portal to find more information about content blocks.
To set up an RSS content block, you must enter the following parameters for each language selected in the Welcome portal languages option (See article International Settings):
- URL: the URL of the RSS source. It must be a valid address.
- Items number: the number of recent posts to display within the block.
What is a RSS feed?
An RSS feed (stands for RDF Site Summary) is a stream of data in RSS format. This format is based on XML, currently one of the most popular formats used to publish Web content based on XML and is considered the de facto standard for exporting Web content, as it is used by many sites, online newspapers and blogs.
RSS feeds allow people to be updated on new articles or comments posted on sites of interest without having to visit them manually one by one.
The Welcome Portal, through RSS content, can become a full-fledged "News Reader". Reporting news in real time from an external source directly to one or more content blocks.
