Access Codes are PIN codes that end-users may need to enable an Internet plan. If the active Internet plan requires an access code, then any new end-user will be asked to enter an access code on the Splash Page, in order to get the access to the Internet.
Cloud4Wi offers 2 methods to generate these access codes.
- Generating access code manually
- Generating access code automatically
Generating Access Codes Manually
Access codes can be generated by the Organization/Location Manager, depending on how the Location Profile is set up and what the delegation controls are. If one or more Internet Plan requires the use of an access code, then codes need to be generated for each plan.
In this example, the Organization Manager will be generating the access code for the specific location (you can access this page by clicking Manage → Locations → Specific Location → Internet Plan), under the Access code column, a small orange box indicates the number of available codes for that Internet Plan if the access code option is enabled for the plan.
By clicking the box, you can enter the Access Code Management section, where you can view the existing codes or generate a new one.
- Add: Create new codes, specifying their number and expiration date
- Export: Export the list of all generated codes to a CSV or PDF file
- History: View the list of all activated codes
- Search: Search for a code by entering it
Displayed fields are Code, Status (Active / Inactive), Creation date and Expiration date.
Generating Access Codes Automatically
Select the appropriate Internet Plan from the quick access toolbar Guest Wi-Fi → Setup → Internet Plans and then click Edit. If Access code option is enabled then the Automatically generate access code setting becomes available, the following fields need to be filled for the system to generate a list of codes:
- Number of access codes: the number of codes that will be generated, per the other inputs described below.
- Frequency: how often the codes will be generated:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Type: this indicates the type of operation
Here's an example:
- Number of PINs: 10
- Frequency: Daily
- Type: Reset
The behavior of the system depends on the number of codes available:
- If no codes are available, the system will create 10 new codes for the selected Internet plan.
- If less than 10 codes are available, the system will generate new codes, so that at the end there are always 10 valid code available. If there are 3 unused code available, then the system will create 10 - 3 = 7 new Access Codes.
- If there are 10 unused codes, the system will not create any new codes, since the requested number is already available.
Provisioning Access Codes
Cloud4Wi offers several ways to restrict end-users from accessing the service.
- Auto-Provisioning with access code
- Self-Provisioning with access code
- Shared password
Auto-Provisioning with access code
With this method, a new end-user is automatically provisioned with a Default Internet Plan. But if the chosen profile requires an access code, then the end-user will be prompted to enter it before accessing the service.
End-users can get this code by physically going to the Location Manager. Otherwise, they can manually get online by the Location Manager who can do this through the Cloud4Wi Dashboard. Auto-Provisioning works with all sign-up methods, including social login and click-through.
Self-Provisioning with access code
Self-Provisioning occurs when the Location is not configured with a Default Internet Plan. The end-user who performs the first login will be redirected to the Internet Plans page, where they can view a list of available plan options. The end-user must then get an access code corresponding to their chosen plan, either by paying for it or physically going to the Location Manager.
For registered end-users, access can also be manually enabled from the Cloud4Wi Dashboard by the Organization or Location Manager.
Shared password
By enabling this option, the Organization/Location Manager can configure the system to require a unique password for all the end-users after they log in to the Splash Page (this method is applicable to all supported sign-in methods, including social login and click-through). An end-user who does not enter the correct password is not able to access the service.
