Purpose
This guide shows the configuration of a "zone" for a Power Cloud Systems router, in order to use the device as an access point. Please note that the images contained in this article may contain outdated configuration data. Therefore, please check the data contained in the article "Parameters for the Solution" at the bottom of the page, as they are certainly up to date.
Prerequisites
This guide applies to the Solution for the version 9.4 or later.
The following device models are supported:
- CR3000
- CR5000
- CAP324
In order to use a Power Cloud Systems device as an access point, you must connect the router to the Internet.
Upgrading the firmware
The Upgrade Firmware action will take about 5 minutes to end. During the firmware updating process, the device must be connected to the Internet and it cannot be used until the update is completed.
Enabling a zone
To activate a disabled zone, you must click on the image corresponding to the selected zone. If the zone is already enabled, simply change the existing settings. In this guide, a non-configured zone will be activated from scratch.
Configuring a zone for Cloud4Wi
The following is the complete configuration of a zone, section by section through the web interface. By applying this configuration, you can use the zone to configure an SSID to run in accordance with Cloud4Wi.
The Mode Settings section must be configured as follows.

For the Connection Settings section, it is necessary to enable the Wi-Fi Service and assign a name to the SSID. No encryption must be set since the end-user will be authenticated through a RADIUS request.
For the UAM Network section, you must specify the network for the selected interface. The following values are illustrative, but it is recommended to use the Primary and Secondary DNS servers indicated (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). The Domain field is not significant, any string having a domain format can be used (for example mydomain.it).
In the DHCP Server section, it is recommended to leave the default values as suggested.
In the Radius Server section, it is required to configure the data for the RADIUS server. The NAS-Identifier field is very important and must be unique within the network. Otherwise, the RADIUS requests coming from the device will be not correctly processed.
In the UAM Server section it is necessary to set the Captive Portal URL. The other parameters must be configured as follows:
At the end, in the Walled Garden section you can set up hosts or IP address ranges that can be visited by end-users without being authenticated. The values specified in the picture below are illustrative.
In order to configure the walled garden, please check the following articles:
- Walled garden for the Social Login (websites/domains to open)
- Walled garden for PayPal feature (websites/domains to open)
After that, the configuration of a zone is complete. To save settings, you must click the Save button in the top part of the zone settings.
Allowing free access to the CDN
Explained in the article Enabling the CDN, you must add some IP addresses to the Walled Garden in order to support the access to the CDN.
The domains to add for this purpose are:
- c4wstatic.cloud4wi.com
- c4wstaticjs.cloud4wi.com
Entering the device details into the Admin Panel
To integrate the access point with the Solution, you must enter its details into the Admin Panel.
For further information on how to do that, please see How to add an access point. Secondly, in the Admin Panel, a field called Identifier will be required by the web interface.
For Power Cloud Systems products, the value to enter must have the same name chosen as NAS-Identifier in the Radius Server section. It must be unique for all the devices connected to the platform. Otherwise, the access point will be not correctly integrated with the Solution.
Parameters for the Solution
The parameters indicated above for the Mode Settings section are mandatory for the proper functioning. The parameters to use to integrate the device with the Solution are the following:
Radius Server
Primary Server IP: 54.247.117.188
Secondary Server IP: 79.125.111.180
Shared Secret: (it will be communicated by Cloud4Wi)
UAM Server
Captive Portal URL: https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com/
Please note that it is necessary to enter the Splash Page URL exactly as it is written above.
If you enter the Splash Page URL in different formats (e.g. https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com/c4wportal/mysplashportal), then the redirection will fail and the end-user will not be able to see the Splash Page.
If these parameters change in the future, we will promptly inform you about new values.
