Purpose

This guide shows how to configure the Aruba Networks IAP Virtual Controller in order to use Aruba Networks access points in accordance with Volare.

Please note that the images contained in this article may contain outdated configuration data. Therefore, please check the data contained in the article "Parameters for the Solution" at the bottom of the page, as they are certainly up to date.

Prerequisites

This integration has been tested with the following devices:

  • IAP 105
  • RAP-3WN

According to Aruba Networks technical documentation, this procedure applies also to the following models:

  • AP220 Series
  • 130 Series
  • 110 Series
  • 100 Series
  • 270 Series
  • 175 Series
  • RAP-155
  • RAP-100 Series
  • RAP-3

It is strongly recommended to use the version 6.3.1.1-4.0.0.0_40930 (released on 2013-11-18) or later. In previous versions, you may encounter problems in communication between the devices and the Welcome Portal.

Then, in order to correctly integrate Aruba Networks devices with the Solution, it is necessary that:

  • Connect the device to the Internet
  • WAN and LAN interfaces are correctly configured

Furthermore, it is necessary that at least one Wireless interface is configured, with no encryption. The settings of the access point will be applied to this interface.

Accessing the access point

Please allow access to the device through the web interface.

Access point configuration

In order to set up the access point, it is necessary to access the Edit Captive WiFi > Security page in the web interface. The configuration must be performed as follows:

About the walled garden, the following articles are available:

The primary RADIUS server has to be configured as follows. Please compare the IP address and ports with the Parameters for the Solution paragraph, at end of the article, since the data may be outdated.

The secondary RADIUS server has to be configured as below. Please compare the IP address and ports with the Parameters for the Solution paragraph, at end of the page, since these data may be outdated.

Allowing free access to the CDN

Explained in the article Enabling the CDN, it is necessary to add some IP addresses to the walled garden in order to support the access to the CDN.
The domains to add for this purpose are:

  • c4wstatic.cloud4wi.com
  • c4wstaticjs.cloud4wi.com

Retrieving the identifier for the Admin Panel

In order to integrate the access point with the Solution, you must enter its details into the Admin Panel.
To have further information on how to do that, please see How to add an access point. Secondly, in the Admin Panel, a field called Identifier will be required by the web interface. For Aruba Networks products it corresponds to the AP Name set on the main Dashboard.

Please note that this value must be unique for all the devices entered in the Admin Panel. Otherwise the access point will not be correctly integrated with the Solution.

Parameters for the Solution

The parameters indicated above for the Services > Hotspot page are mandatory for the proper functioning. The necessary parameters to integrate the device with the Solution are the following:

Auth Server 1 - RadiusCP - IP address: 54.247.117.188
Auth port: 1812
Accounting port: 1813
Shared key: (it will be communicated by Cloud4Wi)

Auth Server 2 - RadiusCP - IP address: 79.125.111.180
Auth port: 1812
Accounting port: 1813
Shared key: (it will be communicated by Cloud4Wi)

IP or hostname: splashportal.cloud4wi.com
Redirect URL: https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com

Please note that it is necessary to enter the Welcome Portal URL exactly as it is written above.
If you enter the Welcome Portal URL in different formats (e.g. https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com/c4wportal/mysplashportal), then the redirection will fail and the end-user will not be able to see the Welcome Portal.

If these parameters change in the future, we will promptly inform you about new values.
