Hewlett Packard (Cloud managed)

This guide shows how to configure Hewlett Packard access point to work with the Volare platform.

Please note that the images contained in this article may sometimes refer to older versions of Hewlett Packard interface. But the details included in “Parameters for the Solution” will always be up to date.

Prior to using this guide, please make sure you have the following details:

  • Internet access to HP Cloud Network Manager
  • Your Hewlett Packard device is connected to the Internet

Accessing the web interface

Log in to HP Cloud Network Manager.

Configuring the access point

Open the Wireless Configuration tab in the left sidebar menu and select your group.

Then it is necessary to click Access Points in the left sidebar and change the existing access point details with the appropriate network settings, by clicking the Edit button.

Below you can find the page where you can specify your access point details. Please note that the name of the access point must correspond to the "Identifier" to set in the Admin Panel. The identifier must be unique across your network.

Switch to the Networks page and select your network, if it exists.
In our case it does not exist, so we have to create a new network by clicking on the Create New button.

Then a guided procedure opens. In the first step (Basic Info) you just have to specify the following details:

  • Type: Wireless
  • Name: (enter the name of your SSID here)
  • Primary usage: Guest

In the second step (VLANs) you have to specify the following details:

  • Client IP assignment: Network Assigned
  • Client VLAN Assignment: Default

In the third step (VLANs) you have to configure the data regarding the communication with Volare.

You must configure:

  • Splash Page Type (set it to "External")
  • Captive Portal Profile
  • Authentication Server 1
  • Authentication Server 2 (optional)
  • Walled Garden (optional)

For Captive Portal Profile, it is possible to create a new one or edit an existing one (do this by clicking the Edit button, as shown below).

Here you will set the data as mentioned in the ‘Parameters for the Solution’ paragraph at the end of this article.

Similarly, you have to specify the Authentication Server 1 field. Please check the ‘Parameters for the Solution’ paragraph at the end of this article.

You can configure data for the backup RADIUS server (Authentication Server 2), as indicated in the ‘Parameters for the Solution’ paragraph at the end of this article.

Under Walled Garden you can set the list of hosts or IP address ranges that are allowed to unauthenticated end-users.
Please also check the following articles:

As the last step of this process, you must set:

  • Access Rules: Unrestricted

Then click Finish and your data will be saved.
Your device is now ready to be used with Volare.

Getting started with Volare

You can now configure the Volare platform using the Quick-start guide.
