Splash Pages can be published and opened in a normal browser by creating a unique URL that recalls the exact experience that a user would have by connecting to the guest WiFi in a certain location.
The overall user experience in Cloud4Wi is defined by the combination of a Splash Page (that controls the content and the look and feel) and a Login Profile (that controls the sign-up options and flow). Therefore, in order to emulate an experience you need to combine these two artifacts.
How to create the URL
- Once you are logged into your account, either at the Organization or Location level, go to the Splash Portals list from the main menu and pick the Splash Page you want to publish.
- From the Setting page, find the "Splash Page unique alias URL" and enter a unique alias in the input field (must be a single string without spaces or special characters and must be unique. You'll get an error message if the alias you picked is already used)
- From the Reference Location menu select the Location whose experience you'd like to emulate if this Splash Page was assigned to it. The experience you'll get as a result will inherit the Login Profile associate to this location.
- Save the settings. Once saved, the page will refresh and show the URL.
First time and repeat user experience
By default, this URL emulates the experience that a user would have on the WiFi, which recognizes repeat users by MAC address. For this reason when you open the link the second time you don't see anymore the form and signup options.
In some cases, you may need to emulate repeatedly the experience of first-time users, for example for sharing the experience with a client or partner. In this case, you can tweak the URL by manually appending the string "?previewCookie=false" at the end of the URL.
E.g.
https://splashportal.cloud4wi.com/c4wportal/cloud4wiretail?previewCookie=false
