Update: Tue, Oct 5th, 11:00 am (PST)
Recently, Facebook has identified an increasing trend in phishing attempts executed on Android embedded webviews, which - unfortunately - include the captive portal FB login app.
To address the issue, Facebook has decided that it will no longer support FB login authentication on Android embedded browsers (see the official Facebook page). The Captive Portal login app of Android is recognized by Facebook as a webview and therefore Facebook is disabling the login attempts by showing the following message:
On our end, in order to prevent the deployment of faulty end-user experiences on Cloud4Wi, we will temporarily remove the Facebook login button from the splash page when rendered in Android captive portal login app. While we hope this will be no more than a transitory measure, at this time we have not yet identified another viable course of action.
Our product team is working hard to find a workaround, and we are currently in touch with the technical teams of Facebook and Google to minimize the impact of these new restrictions on our platform. We will keep updating you as the situation progresses.
In order to minimize the impact on your existing users, we advise enabling the "auto-login" or "One-click login" options in your login profiles, so that returning users will be automatically recognized and not prompted to sign up again.
For more information on how to adapt to this change, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your Cloud4Wi CSM contact, or write to us at Support@Cloud4Wi.com
